As part of the 150th anniversary celebrations of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, Brazilian designers Fernando and Humberto Campana have unveiled an installation at the John Madejski Garden. The installation transforms the garden with a unique creation that explores the use of bamboo, a material frequently featured in the brothers’ work. The installation also features a new outdoor edition of the “Victoria Regia” benches, specially designed for the occasion.
The benches are the result of research by designers into new forms of upholstery, using rolled fabrics, carpets, rubber mats and nets, which recreate the aesthetics of water lilies, aquatic plants typical of the Brazilian Amazon.
